Energiochi

Next June 2014 the 6th 2014 the award ceremony of the 9th edition of the Regional Contest "Energiochi" will take place in Chieti. The competition involves all schools in Regione Abruzzo. The objective, since 2005, is to promote the knowledge of energy saving criteria, renewable energy sources, and to raise awareness on the importance that everyday behaviours have on the environment, as well as to foster sustainable consumption oriented behaviours. The competition is open to all students in every school grade that during. The students involved were asked to describe the most important topics of our planet thorough different works which were divided into contest, (poetry, music , research, painting, short films, technical works...). More that 10.000 students (from 3 up to 18 years old) are involved also this year. All the works have been evaluated by the Official Energiochi Commission. The first three works, divided by each school and district level, are awarded with a sum of money to be used by the schools for the continuation of educational activities related. More than 2500 students will attend the award ceremony together their teachers, local, provincial and regional authorities, This year the President of European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment (FEDARENE) Julie Domac will join the ceremony and project partners from foreign countries (Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Belgium and England etc...) will connect via skype to greet the students. The award ceremony will be broadcast live on local television. The Competition Energiochi, for its educational value, is part of the European program COVENANT OF MAYORS. It is, therefore, an initiative that contributes to raise awareness on Environmental issues and then to achieve the objective of the development of renewable energy sources and energy saving, that every town in the Abruzzo Region is committed to achieve by 2020.
